In May 2020, we launched an international study investigating the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on our lives, mood and thoughts about the future. The study will conclude in May 2022.
The abrupt and prolonged disruptions to everyday life and social isolation, together with increased stress and depression and the threat created by COVID-19 itself, have created increased uncertainty about the future and distorted our perceptions of time. We are also exploring how these effects differ with age, and how they are reflected in the content of our autobiographical thoughts.
With funding from CIHR, and in collaboration with Dr. Shayna Rosenbaum, we are also investigating the factors influencing the many new decisions we are navigating during the pandemic, such as whether to adhere to protective behaviours, get vaccinated, etc.
